Hello, my name is
Jack Parrish.
I solve problems by keeping the user at heart.
I'm a former engineer turned software developer and UX designer. I want to improve the digital experience through accessible, user-centered designs, and I have the web development experience to know what's feasible in code and how to bring those designs to life.
See why we'd work well together!About Me
Hello, my name is Jack. I've loved thinking creatively and solving problems since I was a kid playing with Lego, but my interest in software development and UX design came while studying engineering. While I liked the soft engineering skills, I wanted to substitute heat exchangers with stylesheets and work more with the web.
Since 2018, I've been able to learn and practice software development as a part of my job at a healthcare software corporation, and this year I did the same with UX design in Google's UX Design Professional Certificate program.
I strive to keep the user at the heart of my design process. Here are a few things in particular that I focus on:
- Check any assumptions at the door. What I think the problem is may not be the problem my users actually face.
- Be inclusive. A design that isn't accessible is by definition not functional.
- Don't take it personally. I'm creating for the user, not myself, and constructive feedback helps make the end product better.

UX Case Study
Radiance: Breaking Down the Barriers to Healthy Eating
Radiance is a mobile app & responsive website that aims to break down the barriers to healthy eating such as cost and time. The problem in this project was complex, so I focused on gathering a deep understanding of the "as is" experience and the context in which users may interact with Radiance. This was my third project in Google's UX Design Professional Certificate program.

Minigame Madness: Build Relationships Through Fun and Games
Minigame Madness is my second project in Google's UX Design Professional Certificate program. I designed this responsive website to help build relationships among team members and friends in a fun and engaging way. I wanted to push myself in designing the look and feel of the site, and I had a lot of fun thinking of different games and features for the website.

Pathway: Guiding Your Way Indoors and Out
My first ever case study! Pathway is a mobile app that helps bridge the gap between getting to the right building and getting to the right room with step-by-step navigation indoors and outdoors. I learned so much about about the user-centered design process building this project during the first five courses of Google's UX Design Professional Certificate program.
